Star Trek: Discovery, the series that launched what some are already calling the New Golden Age of Trek, will be back for its third season on October 15th. Yesterday, it launched its final trailer as part of Star Trek Day, an online replacement for the in-person conventions we missed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As we already knew from the end of Season Two, Discovery has jumped roughly 900 years into the future. The series which started off wedged between Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: The Original Series in the timeline is now a distant sequel to Star Trek: Picard.
Having left the limitations of Trek Cannon in the past, Disco is now in uncharted territory. Narrated, at the beginning, by Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), the trailer shows us a world where the Federation ain’t what it used to be, to say the least.
The next season looks intense, and while the world looks bleak, the prospect for this season looks quite promising. Have a look:
