After three seasons streaming on Disney Plus, Din Djarin and Grogu are headed to the big screen. Lucasfilm announced in a press release on the Star Wars website today that The Mandalorian and Grogu will go into production in 2024, and released a concept art image as well:

Series co-creator Jon Favreau will direct the film, and will also produce it along with Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, and fellow series co-creator Dave Filoni. No word in the release on who’s writing this new Star Wars movie, but if the streaming series is an indication, Favreau and Filoni are a safe bet.

Also Lucasfilm did not confirm if Pedro Pascal will continue play Din Djarin (aka the titular Mandalorian, or just Mando to some), or at least voice the character. Also no word on if other regular characters from the series such as Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) or Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) will appear.

The Mandalorain and Grogu joins Filoni’s as-of-yet untitled Star Wars movie, set in the same New Republic time period, as well as Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey movie, and James Mangold’s film exploring the dawn of the Jedi, on the slate of Star Wars cinematic projects in development or production. Filoni is also working on the second season of the streaming show Ahsoka.

No release date for the movie has been announced as of yet.
